DIY: KUMIHIMO BRACELETS

¡Hola a todos! Hoy vengo con un post totalmente diferente. No pensé que nunca haría un DIY pero he aprendido a hacer unas pulseras chulísimas con la técnica kumihimo y estoy segura de que mucha más gente querría aprender, ¡así que aquí está este DIY!

Hello everyone! This is a totally different post. I never thought I'd do a DIY post but I've just learnt how to make these amazing bracelets with the kumihimo technique and I'm sure a lot of people would like to learn, so here it is this DIY!

Lo que vas a necesitar para este DIY es un kumihimo disk como el que os muestro a continuación. Los hay de distintos tamaños así que cuánto más grande sea tu disco, más gruesa será tu pulsera.

What you're going to need for this DIY is a kumihimo disk like the one I'm showing you. There are different sizes so the bigger the disk, the thicker will be your bracelet!

Lo siguiente que necesitarás son hilos. Da igual el tipo de hilo, pero recomiendo esos hilos que son un tanto resbaladizos (cola de ratón) como los que he utilizado yo (en cualquier tienda china venden a 1 euro!) 

The next thin you're going to need are the threads or even yarn. I used some kind of soft threads you can find in any shop for 1 euro!

El proceso es bastante más sencillo de lo que parece. Necesitáis cuatro hilos distintos para este tipo de trenzado. Pueden ser de distintos colores o del mismo, eso da igual, todo depende de cómo quieras hacerlo. Lo que sí debes tener en cuenta es que deberían ser los cuatro de la misma longitud más o menos para colocarlos en el disco.

The process is easier than it seems. You need four different threads for this kind of braided bracelet. It can be either different colours or the same colour, that doesn't matter, it's all up to you and how you want your bracelet to look like. You must keep in mind, though, that they must be the same length.

Aquí ya está empezado, pero os voy a explicar cómo funciona. Cada hilo estará colocado alrededor del punto. Es decir, mi disco tiene hasta 32 puntos entonces debe haber un hilo que vaya desde el 31 hasta el que esté justo delante de él, que es el 17, y el 1 hasta el 15, de tal manera que han de estar uno a cada lado de los puntos. Debes hacer lo mismo con los otros dos hilos. Ten en cuenta que el hilo restante debería estar más o menos a la misma longitud.

This picture shows the bracelet halfway, but I'm going to explain how this works. Every thread will be placed around the point. I mean, my disk has up to 32 points, then there must be a thread that goes from point 31 to the one just just down the disk (point 17) and point 1 to 15, so every thread will be surrounding the points. You must do the same with the other two threads. Keep in mind that the thread that isn't crossing the disk must be, more or less, the same length,

¡Y ahora a trenzar! Es TAN sencillo como parece. Siempre hay que empezar por los dos hilos que están por debajo y llevar el que tienes abajo a la derecha hacia arriba a la izquierda, cruzándolos. Por ejemplo, en la imagen de arriba, habría que llevar el de la derecha del 14 hacia el 28. Y luego el de arriba a la derecha llevarlo a abajo a la izquierda. Los dos hilos han de estar uno en cada hueco de un número. Y siempre ir girando hasta que obtengamos la medida que nos guste en el sentido de las agujas del reloj!

And now, let's braid! It's as easy as it seems! You must always begin with the threads that are under the other two and bring the one you have on the right, up to the left, crossing them. For example, in the picture above, you should bring the one on the right (14) towards point 28. And then the one from above, on the right, down to the left. The threads must be in every gap of the number. And you should always turn the disk clockwise while doing it so until you get the length desired!

Así es como debería quedar. Deberíais escoger un cierre de vuestra elección. El que tengo en la pulsera verde es un cierre magnético bastante útil y sencillo, además queda muy elegante. No olvidéis utilizar vuestra imaginación porque se pueden utilizar muchísimos tipos de cierres además de abalorios para decorar!

That's how it should look! You should choose a lock of your choice. The one I have in the green bracelet is a magnetic lock pretty useful and simple, plus it looks very elegant. Don't forget to use your imagination because you can use an infinite list of locks plus charms to decorate!
